Pro-Healing Nutrition

Pro-healing nutrition is a nutrient-dense, seasonally appropriate and animal-based way of eating. You don’t have to get rid of all plants! Eating a local, seasonal diet is the ultimate goal. However, for deep healing, addressing nutrieint deficencies, metobolic and gut health ~ I do recommend an emphasis on quality protein and healthy fats. Animal-based eating for healing is not a new idea. Our ancestors utilized every part of the animal including bones for human fuel and as medicine. The reason I support an animal-based way of eating for natural anxiety relief and optimal mental health is because that is where I see the most healing. The most drastic improvements in health, from my experience, have been while implementing a pro-healing way of eating. I developed a Pro-Healing Nutrition Plan based on my clinical expereince and years of gut-brain and nutrition study.

When I was first experimenting personally (see blog ‘my carnivore experiment’), I was most impressed with individaul cases of people healing from all kinds of chronic health issues. I wanted to try it for myself before introducing the idea or meal plans to clients. Once I started eating an animal-based diet, I was pleasantly surprised that I felt better and had some desired weight loss. I began interviewing individuals that were utlizing an animal-based (keto, ketovore or carnivore) diet for chronic mental health issues like depression or anxiety. Those interviews, along with continued training in mental health nutrition, helped me exand out of the nutrition box I was in and truly provide a holistic approach for my clients. I was also inspired by the emerging research on gut health, quantum biology and the metabolic-mental health connection. The medical clinic Paleomedicina, for instance, has impressive data on over 4000 patients curing intestinal permeability using an animal-based (70-100% animal by volume) diet. Most of my clients enjoy some plant foods, which is why I created the Pro-Healing Diet for them. I too transitioned from a carnivore way of eating to my pro-healing nutrition approach. I support food freedom and finding the most sustainable ways to feed our families. I’m a big fan of regenerative farming. I first learned of regenerative or holistic farming from watching a video with Joel Salatin. Joel runs the Salatin Family’s Polyface Farm in Virginia. Polyface is known as “America’s premier non-industrial food production oasis.” It did not take me long to realize Joel and his family are farming geniuses and I caught the regenerative farm support bug. I started researching regenerative farming practices and began supporting my local holistic/regenerative farmers.
